SUMMARY

I can't say enough about how glad I am that I took this course. There is so much "out there" that I still don't know, but at least now I feel like I fit into the 21st century.

Library Lady is superb with her clever comments, witty rebuttals, and extensive knowledge...you should really consider writing as a first or second career.

Melissa is superb as well with her extensive knowledge, wonderful enthusiasm and great teaching.

I have learned so much and will continue using quite a few of the sites that we were exposed to.

Looking forward to the graduation party.......Should I bring the Sangria from our WIKI assignment? *wink* :-)) In answer to you question on my blog LL....It will be red wine with lots of fruit, some Triple Sec and a splash of gingerale...maybe some umbrella's to top it off....mmmm

Thanks for a wonderful course.

CATALOGING/LIBRARYTHING

http://www.librarything.com/catalog/carolmaundercogeco.

Right now I am reading Light A Penny Candle by Maeve Binchy and I'm loving it. I do enjoy her story telling.

I think Librarything is a better social networking tool than facebook in regards to meeting like minded people..not so much for finding lost friends of course. So in terms of the social network factor, I would use this site more than facebook...doesn't seem as potentially "harmful"..but I could be wrong. I found it very easy to use, though I don't know why people want to keep track of the books they have already read?? I can see it being a great way to get feedback on books I'm interested in reading, searching for books ect. It's a great site..

RSS FEEDS

I can't think of any websites that I want info. from on a daily basis, therefore, for the lesson only I decided to subscribe to a TV show that I tape...."Diners, Drive-Inns and Dives..http://www.foodnetwork.com/diners-drive-ins-and-dives/index.html......love the show...soooo jealous that this "Guy" not only gets paid to eat all kinds of great looking food, but he travels all over the world.

The other feed is a Maeve Binchy website...http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/b/maeve-binchy/..I don't read a lot of fiction, but I really enjoy her books, and this site will update on new releases.

I'm always glad to learn that there are sites like this around. However, for me, it's not a site that I will frequent in the near future. If there comes a time where I want daily updates on a subject, I might go back.

I can't figure out how to delete some of the sites I subscribed to.."L?"....otherwise, I found adding sites very easy.

You Tube Task Correction/Embedding

Just wanted to Correct the size of my Embedding on the You Tube Task, and show Melissa that her instructions at the drop in last month were helpful....I just couldn't figure out how to paste the correct sized image into the the same spot, so I didn't bother..but now I'm bothering just to show I can do it. (ego) :=))

WIKIS

I'm bringing the Sangria to wash down the delicious food.
I find Wiki quite simple and a great tool for planning events, getting feedback etc.
I don't have a use for it right now, but it's nice to know it's available for future parties etc. ( Sure could have used it when planning my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.)

Photo Sharing

The photo I e-mailed was of Josh Holloway from Lost. The tag was "Sawyer - Josh Holloway". I've just started watching Lost and I love it..especially Sawyer.

I think Picassa is amazing. I downloaded Picassa 3 and have been playing around with it...lots to learn, but I will definitely keep using the site after summer school is over. I still can't believe this is a free site.

My Kitties

I'm playing around with Picassa and using the
"Blogg" button to post some of my pictures. I
can't figure out how to add more pictures within
this frame...not sure why my entire folder wasn't
added and only these two were. I'll keep playing.

These are my two cats. Tiggs is the striped one, and Scamp,
(because she gets into everything) is the blackish one.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to place my text beside each photo? Ive had to use the align centre button.

Facebook

Well, I've used my real name and I'm a little nervous, but also curious. I hear so many people enjoying facebook, but I've always thought of it as a site for teenagers etc. I'm not one to sit at a computer all day "chatting" on line, I'd rather chat on the phone or in person, but I can see how this is a great tool to find old friends, or to chat long distance without running up a phone bill...but I can do that with e-mail.

I'm gonna' to see how it goes. One thing that does concern me is removing my info. off the site if I decide it's not for me...how can you remove anything once it's already in cyber space??? I don't have a lot of info. on there, just my name, birthdate and a yahoo address.

I can't say weather or not I will continue using facebook...it's early days yet. I must say, it was kind of fun seeing if I recognized anyone from my high school....I haven't asked to become a friend of anyone...yet...I don't think I will. I'll wait and see if someone interesting finds me! :-))) (Preferably one old flame I haven't seen in a while but would very much like to)....*wink.

Time will tell.

weeklyhoroscope.com
my tag is: astrology

drlaura.com
my tag is: listen family councilor

Diigo is a great idea, but I don't think I will use it in the near future...Who knows, I might find it very useful in the years to come.

YouTube task

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4XHXeiMRSk

I am somewhat familiar with YouTube, but I'm having streaming difficulties on my home computer so I don't really use it. I'm thrilled that I've learned how to embed or add a video clip to my blog.

One of my favourite shows is the Mary Tyler Moore show. I really like watching "bloopers" and without YouTube, I would never be able to see the out takes of this show. I will continue using YouTube as soon as I correct the streaming issue I'm having at home.

I believe YouTube is popular because it's not only a vehicle where a person can showcase their talents to the entire world without leaving their home, but it also allows the user to access entertainment that would not necessarily be available to them without this technology.

I love it!

Enjoy the MTM out takes.

My First Blog

Hi Everyone, I'm very excited about this course as my experience with Web2 is zero. I have never tried any social networking sites, so this should be interesting....and fun.

Looking forward to meeting and chatting with you all over the course of the summer.

Cheers to Betty and the Library Lady.
